Installations and water
Most of the damage in an empty property is caused by water and damp. Shutting off the main valve and draining the system where possible removes the most common risk.
- Shut off the main water valve.
- Check the roof, gutters and drainage around the building.
- Switch off appliances that do not need to stay running.
Oversight and contact
Leave a key with someone you trust and agree how and how often the property will be checked. A clear arrangement made in advance is worth more than improvising from a distance.
