Why preparation is worth it
Most delays at the border happen because a document is not with the driver, not because of the regulation itself. A prepared folder of documents shortens the check and makes every additional situation on the road easier to handle.
Documents for the driver and the vehicle
Before departure, check the expiry dates and make sure the names and details in the documents match.
- A valid travel document for every passenger.
- The driver's licence, including that of any relief driver.
- The vehicle registration certificate and proof of vehicle insurance.
- The owner's authorisation when the vehicle is not registered in your name.
Passengers and family
When a child is travelling in the vehicle without both parents, check which documentation is required for entry into and transit through every country on the route.
